30 Days of Sketches: Day 29
10 minutes, sketchbook, fine-point uni-ball Vision Needle.
A hedgehog is any of the spiny mammals of the subfamily Erinaceinae and the order Erinaceomorpha. There are 17 species of hedgehog in five genera, found through parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, and New Zealand (by introduction). There are no hedgehogs native to Australia, and no living species native to the Americas. Hedgehogs share distant ancestry with shrews (order Soricidae), with gymnures possibly being the intermediate link, and have changed little over the last 15 million years. Like many of the first mammals they have adapted to a nocturnal, insectivorous way of life. Hedgehogs’ spiny protection resembles that of the unrelated rodent porcupines and monotreme echidnas.
Hedgehogs are my favorite animal that i am not legally allowed to own. You see, in my state of Georgia in the United States, one is not allowed to own a hedgehog as a pet! However, you can get a licence to breed hedgehogs. I would so get a hedgehog like that if i were legally allowed to. Man. For real. Love those hedgehogs.
They also have an uncanny ability to be adorable while at the same time always appearing a little angry.
